The Pioneer Troop meets on Tuesday evening at 7pm at the Headquarters with 15 active members. Our sessions run until 8.45pm.

The Scout Leader is Michael Knights and the Assistant Leaders are Chris Carman-Jones and Susie Remblance, Zoe Williams has very recently joined us as a Section Assistant. Member of Explorers, Emma is our Young leader. Michael has been involved with the Pioneer Troop since it was formed in 2012 originally as an Assistant Leader, Chris joined us from Cubs in early 2019 and Susie who is a former Beaver Leader joined in 2022.

Each term we try to have sessions based around traditional Scouting skills mixed in with current badge requirements. We attend all Group events and Camps.

In the last year we have had a Troop weekend camp, and the Patrol Leader Team have had a weekend Middle of Nowhere camp and an outdoor skills training day.

We have tried archery and air rifle shooting, the martial arts of fencing and capoeira, had a Nerf gun battle, worked on badges, been crabbing, carved pumpkins and taught Cubs about using axes and saws, fire lighting and foil cookery, enjoyed games and challenges and developed teamwork. Most of our members attended Group Camp and some went on the senior members week long Summer Camp.

An Activity Day in Norwich involving a Monopoly Run treasure hunt, a pizza lunch and climbing and trampolines in Gravity was a really good day out.

We have taken part in the Hoxne Village Clean Up for the last eight years and also annually run a Pop Up Pancake Café for parents and friends.
