Village Newsletter: November 2019

Written by: Michael Knights
Published: 2019-11-01

We have just launched our Crowdfunding campaign which will run until 16 November 2019.

We would politely ask anyone who is able to, and feels that this project is as important as we do, to share the below link in any form in order to give us the wide coverage which we need to attract investors. A simple retweet of our post on our Twitter page (@1stFSG) would be a big step in reaching our target. All donations are warmly welcomed and we offer an extensive collection of rewards to donors, including advertising placement on our website as well as the opportunity for names/businesses to be engraved onto a bronze plaque - which will be displayed in a prominent position in our new headquarters.
For more information, please visit,

As you are hopefully aware we are collecting empty crisps packets, any brand, for recycling and fund raising towards a recycled plastic kayak. We have embarked on this recycling project, taking advantage of a recycling scheme run by Walkers in partnership with TerraCycle.
So, whether you want to recycle more or support the Scouts in Fressingfield and surrounding villages, please bring us your empty packets. Every one counts.
So far, we have 4 main collection points:
- The MACE village shop
- The swimming pool in Stradbroke
- The Scout hut, Goodwin Hall (empty packets can be left by the door in a bag)
- Daganya Farm, Hoxne – Michael Knights
- Or any member of the Scout Group
Thank you for your support so far.

Our 2020 Calendar featuring nature scenes is now back from the printers and is available from members for a minimum donation of £5 each.

We are also about to launch a couple more fundraising initiatives, we will let you know the details as soon as we can, details will first appear on our website.

The Beaver Colony, together with some Beavers from the Yoxford and Peasenhall section, recently spent the night sleeping with the fishes on a sleepover at the Sealife Centre in Great Yarmouth, though maybe there was not a lot of sleep for the Leader Team! There are some great pictures on our website.

On the same weekend 20 Cubs from our Cub Packs attended a very wet Activity Day at Eaton Vale Activity Centre organised by Southern Norfolk Scout District. The day was spoiled by the weather but every one had fun and enjoyed meeting Cubs from the District. Scouts and Explorers have local camps planned for half term to finish the season.

Our Grand Christmas Draw will be drawn on the evening of our Gang Show, held at Hartismere School, Eye on the 13th December 2019. Any gifts or donations you could contribute would be gratefully received and go towards our HQ development project. If you feel able to donate a prize, please contact janettesmith1966@outlook.com . We will have tickets for sale at the end of October.

We hope to have news of the new headquarters building next month.
