Dear Parents and families

I hope that you have had a great half term break as we now head towards Christmas with alarming speed I thought it would be a good time to update you on what is happening at 1st Fressingfield Scout Group.

We have seen a steady rise in membership both in young people and also in the number of adults wanting to contribute something back to the community. We are at a point where our younger sections are filling up and we are operating some waiting lists – so more adults are always welcome. You won’t regret it 

Welcome to our new leaders:


I am delighted to report that we are welcoming a number of new adult volunteer leaders to the team this term. As our youth numbers increase we need more adults that can positively contribute to scouting here at 1st Fressingfield. Welcome to the team:

Christine Dinnage, Larissa Clark and Amy Pears as Assistant Squirrel Scout Leaders
Will Nixon, Karen Hunt and Holly Dunn joining as Assistant Beaver Scout Leaders
Elliot Hopkinson as Assistant Cub Scout Leader
Revd Clive Mobbs as the Group Chaplain

WANTED:


A supporter to join our Executive Committee as Secretary. Whilst this has traditionally come from our parent body, the role can be fulfilled by anyone with an interest in our Group – a grandparent, a community member, family member or a friend.

It could be someone who is seeking something additional to add to their admin experience for an apprenticeship or extending their CV.
It could be someone with previous community experience of taking meeting minutes
It could be someone who has recently joined the local community who would like to make new friends and get involved in an active group, or a long standing resident who wants to stay active in the vicinity.

1st Fressingfield Scout Group weekly Lottery with a £25,000 weekly prize:


We have partnered with One Lottery, who will run it on our behalf. This means that there will be 2 weekly draws, one specific to our group and one across all the charities who are running a lottery, with a £25,000 weekly jackpot prize.



Tickets are £1 each and 50p will go to 1st Fressingfield scouts. The rest goes to the prizes and tax, with only 16p going to One Lottery themselves.

HQ Action Day:


The HQ Management Committee continue to work on a number of exciting projects that will further enhance our excellent facilities. On Saturday 19th November we will be running an action day at the HQ site. There will be lots of indoor and outdoor tasks to complete. There will be something for everyone and the action day will run between 9am and 3pm. Come along for the day or a few hours and bring along any tools and equipment that you think would be useful. Tasks for the day include:

• Planting additional tree saplings;
• Treating the picnic benches;
• Installing fencing and digging over the allotment area;
• Stone and litter picking
• Deep clean of the kitchen;
• Cleaning and tidying of storerooms

GANG SHOW:


We are very excited to announce that after a few years gap, we will once again be celebrating the end of term and Christmas with our renowned Gang Show on Friday 9th December.

This year’s venue is Hoxne Village Hall, with excellent facilities for a great evening out. The evening will feature a cash bar, seasonal refreshments, grand Christmas Draw, Christmas Market (we are looking for stall holders) and not to mention ‘THE SHOW’!

The Panto this year performed by the Explorer Unit is a take on – Aladdin. We other sections putting on a range of performances to entertain. There will be limited seats available and we will be announcing how you can secure your ticket soon.
