Summer 2023 Newsletter

Dear Parents,

Since I last wrote to you we have had a Coronation, an International Expedition to Kenya, Group Camp and the completion of our Coach House project at the HQ.  We have also seen a further increase in our youth membership and numerous meetings, activities and events laid on by our fabulous adult volunteer leaders.

We are now at a point where sections are unable to take any more young people and new enquiries are being placed on a waiting list.  As a Scout Group we are passionate about ensuring that we can provide quality scouting to everyone that wants it.  We urgently need more adult volunteers to support our growing Scout Group.  If you have been watching our Facebook posts from Kenya and more recently from Group Camp and thought ‘that looks great fun’ … IT IS J.  You can join the team and the fun, if you are interested please speak to a leader or contact me:

Group Camp:  Hopefully everyone has recovered from Group Camp, we had an amazing weekend with around 70 attending.  Beautiful setting, wonderful weather and great company.  Thank you to everyone that attended and supported the camp.  Particular thanks to Michael Knights that organised the camp.

Service Team day:  If you are free on Wednesday 31st May, 8am – 3pm.  We will be working at the Scout HQ on a number of projects inside and out.  From planting to cleaning and painting and clearing.  There will be something for everyone.  Come along and help if you can.

Calling notice – Scout Group AGM:    On Thursday 15th June 730pm, we will be holding our Scout Group Executive AGM and meeting of the 1st Fressingfield Scout Council (all members and parents) are invited to attend.  Papers will be issued soon. The evening will include formal reports from Section Leaders, Chair, Treasurer and the GSL.  A presentation from the Explorers that went to Kenya and then the appointment of the new Executive Committee/Trustees for the next 12 months.  Refreshments will be served and we hope that you will be able to join us.

Group Open evening and awards:  On the 14th July from 630pm we will be hosting our annual open evening and awards evening.  A separate invite will be circulated, but please put in your diary now.  There will be lots of free activities to participate in, some fundraising stalls, refreshments and licenced bar and much more.  Annual awards and recognitions will also be presented.
